To enrich family and community well-being by helping everyday families achieve financial security and providing opportunities to live well and give back to their communities.
Independent Order of Foresters’ recent giving is dominated by internal member-benefit channels, including the US Branch Network, the US Branch Network – Fraternal Granting Program, and Member Engagement. That pattern signals a funder that routes substantial resources through its own member structure rather than through a conventional open grant portfolio. Beyond those large internal allocations, the foundation also funds community organizations and scholarship awards tied to education and service. Among its external grants, KaBOOM received support in both 2024 and 2025, and Whole Kids Foundation appears in consecutive years as well. Those repeat recipients suggest an ongoing relationship with organizations working in community development and healthy living. The foundation’s stated priorities include community grants, scholarships, financial well-being, education, emergency relief, and member wellness, with beneficiary types ranging from students to families, volunteers, and local community residents. Its profile combines member-driven support with broader community programming, and its recent grants show that both operating-style internal programs and public-facing charitable awards are part of how it funds.
A clear thread in Independent Order of Foresters’ grantmaking is community-based programming. In 2025, it gave $332,987 to KaBOOM in Washington, DC, and in 2024 it gave $294,504 to the same organization. The foundation also supported Marjaree Mason Center with a $50,000 grant in 2025, pointing to work that reaches families and local community residents. Health and basic-needs work also appears in the recent grants list. Whole Kids Foundation received $100,087 in 2024 and $49,250 in 2023, while US Hunger received $45,500 in 2025. Other grants went to Red Cross First Aid Concepts for $48,481 in 2023 and to World Food Program USA for $11,000 in 2023. Together these gifts show support for healthy living, emergency relief, and food-related community needs.
Independent Order of Foresters’ public grant sizes range from a p25 of $15,574 to a median of $48,481 and a p75 of $215,266, with several much larger internal allocations above that range. The recent record shows repeated support for the same recipients across multiple years, including the US Branch Network, Member Engagement, KaBOOM, and Whole Kids Foundation. That indicates recurring relationships rather than one-off gifts. The organization is not a foundation that funds individuals, and its programs include member benefits, scholarships, and community grants. The scraped program pages also show that some community grant offerings accept unsolicited requests, while others are listed as member-benefit programs.
