About Homer A Scott & Mildred S Scott Foundation
A $1,072,182 grant to Sheridan Community Land Trust is the clearest signal of how the Homer A Scott & Mildred S Scott Foundation operates: through large, place-based commitments that support Sheridan-area housing, civic infrastructure, and public services. The foundation’s recent giving is anchored in Sheridan, Wyoming, with recurring support for local institutions that shape daily life, from community land stewardship to K–12 education and family services. Recent awards show a pattern of substantial, multi-step funding rather than isolated one-off gifts. Sheridan County School District #2 received a $501,571 grant, while Sheridan County School District 1 received installment-based support for counselor and social worker positions. The foundation also backed local capacity-building efforts at organizations such as The Hub on Smith Street, Sheridan Memorial Hospital Foundation, and Sheridan County Library Foundation. Across these grants, the emphasis falls on infrastructure, staffing, and long-term community assets rather than short-term event support. The foundation also extends support to organizations serving children, families, and residents in transitional settings. Volunteers of America received capital funding for independent living transitional apartments, and local family- and youth-serving groups appear throughout the recent grant list. That mix of education, housing, and community support defines the foundation’s recent public giving.
