The Grosse Ile Educational Foundation, Inc is a volunteer, non-profit community organization committed to life long educational experiences for the students and families of Grosse Ile. We do this by financially supporting creative and exemplary educational opportunities provided through Grosse Ile Township Schools and the community.
A single grant of $86,108 to Grosse Ile Public Schools for Education Development & Training Programs shows the scale and school-centered orientation of Grosse Ile Educational Foundation Inc’s giving. The foundation backs education across the Grosse Ile community, with a mix of district-based support, teacher grants, community learning, and scholarships. Its stated purpose is to support lifelong educational experiences for students and families of Grosse Ile through creative and exemplary educational opportunities provided through Grosse Ile Township Schools and the community. That mission is reflected in its recent grants and its active programs. Alongside the large schools grant, the foundation awarded $37,974 to Grosse Ile Historical Society for Mueseum Timeline Walk, linking public history and education. The program list also shows structured support for teachers, community nonprofits, and high school scholar-athletes, which makes the foundation more varied than a single-purpose school donor. Kurt Kobiljak is listed in leadership, and the foundation operates with annual grants of $124,082 and assets of $2,199,200.
The foundation supports K-12 learning through several distinct channels. Its Great Ideas Teacher Grant is aimed at Grosse Ile Township Schools teachers who want enhanced, innovative learning experiences or training not generally supported by the district budget, with awards from $500 to $2,000. The Foundation Grant serves larger school projects with costs exceeding $2,000 and is available to any Grosse Ile Township Schools teacher or employee for district-based work. It also funds community-based education. The Community Grant is designed for nonprofit community groups within Grosse Ile Township that have qualifying tax-exempt status and is meant to provide lifelong learning experiences for residents. Scholarship support appears in the Steve Sims Leadership Scholarship, which awards two $2,500 scholarships to outstanding male and female scholar-athletes from Grosse Ile High School who plan to attend college.
Typical grant size is fairly concentrated around mid-five-figure awards: the 25th percentile is $50,008, the median is $62,041, and the 75th percentile is $74,074. The recent grant list shows two 2025 awards, both to U.S. recipients. The available program structure suggests a mix of open and restricted opportunities: Community Grant, Great Ideas Teacher Grant, and Foundation Grant accept unsolicited requests, while the Steve Sims Leadership Scholarship does not. The foundation appears to fund through community and school-based grants rather than individuals, and it does not make program-related investments.
