About Georgia Power Foundation
Georgia Power Foundation Inc. has backed Georgia’s water and watershed work through a dedicated Waters for Georgia program, while also placing large grants into education, health, community development, and conservation. In the recent grant list, its biggest awards reach $1 million, including support for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Foundation for the North Druid Hills campus and for Georgia Foundation for Public Education to administer and fulfill the Workforce for Georgia grant program. Those commitments sit alongside other major gifts to Georgia institutions such as The Morehouse School of Medicine Inc, Woodruff Arts Center, and Community Foundation for the Central Savannah River Area Inc. The foundation’s giving also shows a strong link to place-based projects in Atlanta and other Georgia cities, with support for capital campaigns, scholarship funds, workforce initiatives, and community facilities. Its published focus areas include water quality, green infrastructure, habitat restoration, stormwater management, agricultural best management practices, and community education and engagement, which helps explain the blend of environmental and community-oriented grants in its portfolio.
