The Foundation exists for the purpose of raising and providing funds for the benefit of Gage County non-profit organizations engaged in the pursuit of serving the educational, cultural, recreational, historical, health and all meaningful needs of our Gage County citizens. Particular emphasis is given small organizations service Gage County that have limited ability to solicit necessary funding.
Gage County Foundation Inc channels almost all of its recent giving into small, place-based nonprofit work in Gage County, with a clear emphasis on organizations that have limited ability to raise funds on their own. One of the largest recent grants went to Beatrice Youth Recreation Inc, a $163,658 award in 2024, signaling that recreation and community facilities can be a major part of its local support. The foundation’s broader purpose statement also covers educational, cultural, recreational, historical, and health needs for Gage County citizens, which gives its grantmaking a wide civic scope within a single county. Recent awards show that this is not only about one large project; it also includes ongoing support for groups such as Sheepgate Women Center and Community Food Pantry, both of which appear in the recent grants list with multiple awards across different years. Scholarships are also part of the foundation’s programming, linking its community giving to local student support. The pattern is consistent with a funder designed to serve Gage County nonprofits, especially smaller organizations that may not have strong fundraising capacity.
In recreation, the foundation made a $163,658 grant to Beatrice Youth Recreation Inc in 2024, and also supported Southern Youth Sports in Wymore with a $14,400 award in 2025. That combination suggests an interest in both facilities and youth sports participation. Health and human services also appear in the recent record: Sheepgate Women Center received $55,471 in 2025, while Hope Crisis Center received $15,601 in 2023 and $15,094 in 2024. Food access is another visible area, with Community Food Pantry receiving $43,837 in 2024 and $17,091 in 2025. The foundation also supported education-related work through 4-H Building Inc, which received $34,769 in 2025, and St Paul Lutheran School, which received $14,087 in 2024.
Typical awards cluster in a modest mid-thousands range, with a p25 of $7,524, a median of $10,318, and a p75 of $15,601. The recent record also includes some larger project grants, but the center of gravity is much smaller awards spread across local nonprofits. Several recipients appear in multiple years, including Food 4hope of Nebraska Inc, Community Food Pantry, Hope Crisis Center, Sheepgate, and Wymore-blue Springs Area Fund, which points to recurring support rather than one-time only giving. The foundation is a local grantmaker, not an individual-giving funder, and its active programs include both general grantmaking and scholarships. One program notes that it accepts unsolicited requests.
