The Dwight H Hibbard Family Foundation concentrates giving on independent K–12 education and a small set of community nonprofits, favoring a handful of relatively large grants each year. Most awards support private day and boarding schools (including single-sex and regional schools) and local Cincinnati-area community programs labeled 'Genesis,' suggesting interest in workforce or neighborhood services. Grants are sizable and targeted rather than broadly distributed, indicating relationship-driven philanthropy.
A defining feature of the Dwight H Hibbard Family Foundation is its repeated support for programs using the Genesis name, alongside independent private schools. In 2025, the foundation awarded $135,000 to Genesis at Work Foundation in Cincinnati and $85,000 to Genesis Program in Akron, placing community or workforce-oriented grants alongside school support in the same year. The school grants also show a clear pattern: Cincinnati Country Day School received $125,000, Columbus School for Girls received $100,000, and The Taft School received $25,000. Taken together, those awards point to a funder that favors a small number of targeted grants rather than a broad portfolio. The pattern combines Cincinnati-area community work with independent K–12 education, including private day and boarding schools. That mix suggests the foundation’s giving is built around a limited set of relationships and specific institutions rather than open-ended, dispersed philanthropy.
Independent K–12 education is a central theme. The foundation gave $125,000 to Cincinnati Country Day School for exempt purposes, then added $100,000 to Columbus School for Girls for the same purpose. A boarding-school example appears in the $25,000 grant to The Taft School. Community-focused work appears under the Genesis name: Genesis at Work Foundation received $135,000, and Genesis Program in Akron received $85,000, both for exempt purposes. Those grants show two clear lanes in the portfolio: private education and a smaller set of community or workforce-related initiatives. The recurring “for the exempt purposes of this organization” language also signals that the foundation often uses unrestricted or broad-purpose support rather than narrowly specified project grants.
The recent grants show a concentrated size profile, with awards of $135,000, $125,000, $100,000, $85,000, and $25,000 in 2025. That places most of the visible giving in the six-figure range, with one smaller grant below $50,000. The recipients do not repeat across the recent grants list, but the same program label appears in multiple years of the foundation’s broader summary, indicating a relationship-based pattern around a small set of institutions and initiatives. The foundation is a family foundation, and the grants listed are framed as support for exempt purposes rather than project-specific proposals. No application process is identified in the data.
