The Dorothy J Morris Trust focuses local philanthropic support on a very small set of repeat beneficiaries in the greater Cleveland suburb area, making substantial, equal-sized grants to a handful of community institutions. Its giving mixes congregational and fraternal organizations with neighborhood social services and a local nature/science education provider, suggesting a preference for community anchors and civic institutions.
Highly concentrated: the trust makes repeated, equal-sized grants to a very small number of familiar local organizations (multiple grants to the same four grantees rather than wide distribution).
Dorothy J Morris Trust gives in a tight, repeatable pattern: four Ohio institutions have each received general support in 2023, 2024, and 2025, with equal grant amounts across the set in each year. The trust’s recent awards center on community anchors in greater Cleveland, including John Knox Presbyterian Church, The Salvation Army in Cleveland, Lake Erie Nature & Science Center, and Ann Rutledge Chapter #453 - Lakewood Masonic Foundation. That mix points to a donor that supports religious, social service, fraternal, and educational institutions through unrestricted funding rather than project-specific awards. Across the latest grants, the trust maintains the same beneficiaries year after year and keeps the gifts closely aligned in size, suggesting a highly selective roster and a steady annual cadence. The pattern is not broad or dispersed; it is concentrated on a small number of organizations that appear to serve local congregational, charitable, and civic functions. For a nonprofit researcher, the defining feature is continuity: the trust repeatedly backs the same four organizations with general support, rather than rotating among many grantees or issuing one-off awards.
The trust’s giving is organized around a few recurring community functions. In social services, it gave $52,988 in 2025 to The Salvation Army in Cleveland for general support, following the same organization’s general-support grants in 2024 and 2023. Religious support is another clear thread: John Knox Presbyterian Church in North Olmsted received $52,988 in 2025 and earlier general-support grants in 2024 and 2023. The trust also backs civic and fraternal community philanthropy through Ann Rutledge Chapter #453 - Lakewood Masonic Foundation, which received the same general-support amount in 2025. Educational and environmental programming appears in the grant to Lake Erie Nature & Science Center in Bay Village for general support. Taken together, these awards show support for institutions that provide ongoing local services rather than narrowly defined projects.
The trust’s typical grant size is tightly clustered: p25 is $44,304, median is $47,354, and p75 is $50,404. In the latest year, the four recent grants were all equal at $52,988, continuing the pattern seen in 2024 at $50,404 and 2023 at $44,304. That consistency suggests an annual cycle with a small, stable roster of recipients rather than broad solicitation. The structure reads as a private trust making general operating or unrestricted support grants, not program-related investments. The recipients repeat across multiple years, indicating ongoing relationships instead of one-time awards.
