The David S Baum Foundation concentrates its giving on conservative political and civic advocacy, with substantial unrestricted gifts to right-leaning education and watchdog organizations, while also making occasional community service and health-care donations. Its portfolio mixes high-dollar, discretionary support for national conservative groups with a smaller number of community-focused grants to social service and health providers.
David S Baum Foundation Inc repeatedly makes large discretionary gifts to conservative political education and advocacy groups. The biggest recent grant in the data is $75,000 to Young America’s Foundation for political education, and the same organization appears again in 2024 and 2025 with additional support. Turning Point USA also shows up multiple times, including a $50,000 grant for political education and a $35,000 unrestricted gift. The pattern is reinforced by gifts to David Horowitz Freedom Center, which received $50,000 in 2025 as an unrestricted charitable gift and $40,000 in 2024 for educating the next generation in the values of freedom. Beyond that core, the foundation also funds community services and direct support for health, education, and family-service organizations. Recent examples include health care support for the community through Healthnet of Rock County, legal and accountability work through Judicial Watch, and emergency support through Salvation Army. The portfolio shows a mix of unrestricted gifts and purpose-restricted grants, with recurring support to some recipients across multiple years.
Political education is a central theme. The foundation gave $75,000 to Young America’s Foundation for political education in 2023, then followed with a $50,000 grant in 2024 and a $50,000 unrestricted gift in 2025. It also supported Turning Point USA with $50,000 for political education and $35,000 as an unrestricted charitable gift. Government accountability is another clear area: Judicial Watch received $50,000 to promote integrity, transparency, and accountability in government. The foundation also funds legal-advocacy work, including $25,000 to Freedom Watch for political education and legal activities, and $25,000 to First Liberty Institute for pro bono legal services. Outside the civic-policy lane, it supports direct services such as $60,000 to Healthnet of Rock County for dental and medical care for the community.
Typical grants cluster around modest-to-mid-sized awards: p25 is $5,000, the median is $10,000, and p75 is $20,000. The recent record also includes larger outliers at $50,000, $60,000, and $75,000, showing that the foundation reserves bigger checks for selected priorities. Recurring support is common: multiple recipients appear in more than one year, including Young America’s Foundation, Turning Point USA, David Horowitz Freedom Center, Chance for Hope, and Dyslexia Center of Austin. The foundation is a regular funder, not a DAF or an individual giver, and the grants include both unrestricted charitable gifts and purpose-specific support.
