The David & Molly Pyott Foundation concentrates its philanthropy on international eye health and child development initiatives, funding a small number of large grants to organizations working on blindness prevention, pediatric welfare, and disability services. Their giving mixes global health (notably ophthalmology projects) with child-focused programs, including partnerships with UK-based child development charities and US disability/service organizations.
A defining feature of the David & Molly Pyott Foundation is its sustained support for blindness prevention and ophthalmology capacity-building, alongside child development grants. The largest recent awards show both threads clearly: $1,595,000 to The King’s Trust USA for child development and $1,463,687 to Orbis International for health services. The foundation also returned to eye care through Project Orbis International Inc., with grants of $1,300,000 in both 2024 and 2025 for prevention and treatment of blindness. Its recent giving also includes disability services, education, and international charitable support. Easter Seals of Southern California received $760,363 for disability services, while California Institute of Technology received grants in 2023, 2024, and 2025. The pattern suggests a funder that favors established organizations and multiyear support rather than one-off experiments. Grants range from small five-figure awards to seven-figure commitments, with a mix of program-specific gifts and broader operating support visible in the recent grants list. The foundation’s profile is shaped by a limited set of recurring priorities rather than a broad portfolio of unrelated causes.
In child development, the foundation supported The King’s Trust USA with $1,595,000 in 2025 and The Prince of Wales Foundation with $1,460,000 in 2024, both identified in the recent grants list as child development awards. Disability services also appear as a distinct line of giving: Easter Seals of Southern California received $760,363 in 2023. Education grants are another recurring thread. California Institute of Technology received $309,100 in 2023, $308,100 in 2024, and $307,100 in 2025, all tagged for education. The foundation also gave to University of Edinburgh USA Development Trust Inc. for education in 2024 and to University of Edinburgh USA in 2025. In international charitable support, Charities Aid Foundation America received $123,000 in 2024 for assisting international charities.
Typical grant size is mid-sized, with a p25 of $1,762, a median of $10,720, and a p75 of $79,469. The recent list also shows a small number of very large grants, including multiple seven-figure awards, which indicates a mixed pattern of many modest gifts and a few substantial commitments. Recurrence is visible across years: Project Orbis International Inc. appears in 2024 and 2025, California Institute of Technology appears in 2023 through 2025, and The Prince of Wales Foundation appears in 2023 and 2024. The foundation is a regular funder and does not fund individuals or make program-related investments. No application process is shown in the data.

Concentrated, high-value grants to a small number of organizations, with several repeat large gifts (multiple grants to Orbis/Project Orbis and to the Prince of Wales Foundation). Predominantly multi-hundred-thousand to multi-million dollar commitments focused on a few strategic partners rather than many small awards.
Notable grantees: Project Orbis International / Orbis International, The Prince of Wales Foundation, The King's Trust USA, Easter Seals of Southern California, Ophthalmology Foundation
Grant recipients are entirely in the United States in the recent-grants sample, with 87 grants and 100% of recipient locations in the US. California appears most often by count, and several recent awards went to recipients in San Francisco, Pasadena, Santa Ana, Aliso Viejo, Lake Forest, Newport Beach, Irvine, and Dallas. New York City also appears repeatedly through grantees such as The King’s Trust USA and Orbis International. Washington, DC and Alexandria, VA are other recurring recipient locations.
The recent grants point to child development, blindness prevention and ophthalmology, disability services, education, and international charitable support. Examples include child development grants to The King’s Trust USA and The Prince of Wales Foundation, eye-care funding for Project Orbis International Inc., and disability services support for Easter Seals of Southern California.
Yes. Several recipients appear across multiple years, including Project Orbis International Inc. in 2024 and 2025, California Institute of Technology from 2023 through 2025, and The Prince of Wales Foundation in 2023 and 2024. That pattern suggests ongoing relationships rather than isolated gifts.
The grant-size distribution is skewed toward smaller awards, with a p25 of $1,762, a median of $10,720, and a p75 of $79,469. The recent list also includes a few much larger commitments, including several in the seven-figure range.
Recent grants are entirely U.S.-based in the sample, with 87 grants to U.S. recipients. California is the top state by grant count, and recipient cities include San Francisco, Pasadena, Santa Ana, Aliso Viejo, Lake Forest, Newport Beach, Irvine, and Dallas.
The available data does not show an application process. What it does show is a regular funder pattern with grants made to established organizations, including repeated support for the same recipients across multiple years.
