The COCANOUGHER FOUNDATION appears to concentrate its philanthropy on supporting secondary education through scholarships, demonstrated by a single sizable gift to a high school scholarship fund. Their giving suggests a local, student-focused interest in helping graduates access postsecondary opportunities rather than broad institutional support.
A $50,000 grant to the Decatur High School Scholarship Fund in 2024 is the clearest marker of Cocanougher Foundation’s giving: it uses grants to support student access to postsecondary education through scholarship funds. The pattern continues across later awards, including another $30,000 to the same scholarship fund in 2025 and repeated support for Wise County education and relief organizations. That mix points to a local grantmaker that favors practical, earmarked support rather than broad institutional giving. The foundation’s recent record also shows steady backing for community-based social welfare and youth-serving organizations. In Decatur, Bridgeport, Fort Worth, Arlington, San Angelo, and Midland, its grants support nonprofits working with children, families, and local residents. Several recipients appear in multiple years, suggesting sustained relationships rather than isolated gifts. Its philanthropy is concentrated in Texas, with 93% of grants going to recipients in the headquarters state. Annual grantmaking is $912,500, and the typical award size sits in a middle band rather than at the very top of the portfolio, even though a few scholarship and community grants are larger.
Scholarship support is the most visible thread. Cocanougher Foundation gave $30,000 in 2025 to the Decatur High School Scholarship Fund, building on its earlier $25,000 grant to the same fund in 2023 and $50,000 in 2024. It also backs scholarship endowments for graduating secondary students in North Texas through recurring gifts. The foundation also funds local social welfare work. In 2025 it gave $15,000 to Wise Area Relief Mission in Decatur and the same amount to Casa of Tarrant County in Fort Worth, both tied to direct-service support. Youth and family services appear in several grants as well. West Texas Boys Ranch received $15,000 in 2024 and again in 2025, and Feeding Wise Kids in Bridgeport received $15,000 in both years. These repeated awards show a preference for ongoing support of specific organizations.
Cocanougher Foundation’s typical grant size is $1,250 at the 25th percentile, $10,000 at the median, and $15,000 at the 75th percentile, showing a portfolio centered on modest-to-mid-sized awards with some larger scholarship grants above that range. The recent record also shows repeated recipients across multiple years, including several organizations that appear in both 2023 and 2024 or 2024 and 2025. The foundation makes grants rather than program-related investments, and it funds individuals as well as organizations. The grant record shows a largely earmarked, program-specific pattern.

Highly concentrated, one-time/isolated large grant pattern: a single $50,000 award to a local high school scholarship fund rather than multiple or recurring grantees.
