The Carroll A. Weinberg MD and Charlotte Cohen Weinberg Foundation focuses on education-centered philanthropy across a few thematic areas — Jewish cultural and educational institutions, entrepreneurship/technology education, and conservation — while also supporting health and animal welfare in the Mid‑Atlantic. Grants are sizable and targeted, often made repeatedly to the same organizations, indicating long‑term relationships with a small portfolio of favored grantees.
Concentrated, large grants with multiple repeat gifts to a small set of core grantees; funding is cross‑sector but consistently oriented toward educational/program support and regional institutions.
A defining feature of Carroll A Weinberg MD and Charlotte Cohen Weinberg Foundation Inc is its repeated support for a small set of institutions over multiple years, including The Associated Jewish Museum of Maryland at $200,000 in both 2023 and 2024. That pattern sits alongside sizable gifts to education-centered and community-serving organizations such as Conscious Venture Lab Novella Center for Entrepreneurship, American Technion Society, Pennsylvania SPCA, and Natural Lands. The foundation’s recent grants show a mix of Jewish cultural and educational work, entrepreneurship and technology education, conservation, healthcare, and animal welfare. The portfolio leans toward targeted, program-oriented grants rather than broad, diffuse giving. Several recipients appear more than once, which suggests continuing relationships with organizations that fit the foundation’s interests. In Baltimore, the museum support is especially prominent, while other grants reach Philadelphia, New York, and other Mid-Atlantic and national recipients. The foundation also supported Lankenau Medical Center Foundation, Tikva Children’s Home, and Shoresh, reflecting a grantmaking pattern that crosses education, religion, health, and regional community needs.
In Jewish cultural and educational work, the foundation gave $200,000 to The Associated Jewish Museum of Maryland for educational support and $25,000 to Jewish Community Center Valley of the Sun for religious purposes. It also backed Shoresh with $50,000, adding another Maryland-based faith and education link. Entrepreneurship and technology education is another clear theme. Conscious Venture Lab Novella Center for Entrepreneurship received $100,000 in 2023, $100,000 in 2024, and $100,000 in 2025, all marked educational. American Technion Society also received $100,000 in 2023, 2024, and 2025. Environmental giving appears in both conservation and education settings. The Nature Conservancy received $100,000, Natural Lands received $100,000, and Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education received $50,000 in 2025 after a $50,000 gift in 2024.
Typical grants fall at $20,000 at the 25th percentile, $50,000 at the median, and $100,000 at the 75th percentile, with several awards reaching $200,000.
