The Buehler Memorial Trust concentrates its giving on community arts and regional heritage, providing flexible general operating support rather than project-specific grants. A large share of its funding goes to a single arts institution (Hoyt Center for the Arts) through repeated awards, with additional support for regional heritage preservation organizations.
Concentrated giving: few, relatively large grants with repeat funding to a primary arts beneficiary and targeted support for a second heritage organization; emphasis on unrestricted operating support.
Buehler Memorial Trust Ua gives through repeated general operating grants to a small group of local institutions, with the Hoyt Center for the Arts in New Castle, Pennsylvania receiving three of the largest awards in the recent record: $46,086 in 2023, $43,275 in 2024, and $44,757 in 2025. That pattern shows a funder focused on sustaining organizations over time rather than backing one-off projects. The trust’s recent awards also extend beyond arts to regional heritage and community-serving nonprofits, including Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage and Holy Family Manor, both in Pennsylvania. Across the grant list, support is framed as general operating aid, suggesting emphasis on day-to-day stability, staffing, and core expenses. The trust’s giving is local in scope, and the recipient list is concentrated in a handful of Pennsylvania communities, especially around the Lehigh Valley and western Pennsylvania. The recent portfolio also includes rail heritage, health, food assistance, and human services organizations, all funded with the same operating-support approach.
Community arts is a central theme. Buehler Memorial Trust Ua gave $44,757 in 2025 to Hoyt Center for the Arts in New Castle for general operating support, after awards of $43,275 in 2024 and $46,086 in 2023. Regional heritage preservation is another recurring line of support: Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage in Easton received $18,289 in 2025 for general operating support. The trust also backs organizations tied to local history and interpretation, such as Railways to Yesterday Inc in Rockhill Furnace, which received $12,800 in 2025 for general operating support. Beyond the heritage and arts field, the trust supports human services and care organizations, including Holy Family Manor in Bethlehem with a $16,413 grant in 2023 for general operating support.
Typical grants are modest and tightly clustered: the p25 is $6,509, the median is $9,539, and the p75 is $11,216. The recent record also shows repeated awards to the same organizations across multiple years, especially Hoyt Center for the Arts, Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage, Railways to Yesterday Inc, Holy Family Manor, and St Lukes Hospital of Bethlehem PA. That repeat pattern points to ongoing support rather than one-time project funding. The trust appears to operate as a private grantmaker making general operating grants, with no individual giving and no program-related investments in the provided data.
