About Bishop Family Foundation
A $200,000 grant to Cumberland Heights Foundation for the Recovery in Community Campaign stands out in the Bishop Family Foundation’s recent record, because it shows how the foundation pairs large-scale support with tightly local giving. The Bishop Family Foundation gives entirely in Tennessee and concentrates its grants around Chattanooga, Signal Mountain, and nearby communities. Its recent funding mix includes housing construction, recovery services, school support, arts access, public-space projects, and faith-based facilities. Repeat support appears throughout the record. Habitat for Humanity of Chattanooga received two six-figure home-building grants, while Northside Neighborhood House was funded for community schools, staffing, housing assistance, and general operating needs. The foundation also backed capital and endowment-style support, including a scholarship endowment for Cumberland Heights Foundation and a new sanctuary for Wayside Presbyterian Church. Smaller grants extend the same local pattern to neighborhood civic groups and community-serving organizations in Signal Mountain and Chattanooga. With annual grants of $1,615,000 and a median grant size of $40,000, the foundation’s giving is marked by sizable awards to a small set of nearby recipients.
