About Bill & Agnes Monk Family Foundation
The Bill & Agnes Monk Family Foundation’s recent giving is anchored by education support and capital projects in eastern North Carolina, with repeated grants to schools, universities, and local institutions over multiple years. One visible thread is its support for private K–12 education: The Oakwood School received $232,000 in both 2023 and 2024 for the Monk Family Scholars/general fund, and Saint Mary’s School also appears in the grant list with program support. The foundation also backs higher education through the University of North Carolina, which received $215,000 in 2023, $202,500 in 2024, and $182,501 in 2025 for various programs. Health care capital is another recurring part of the portfolio, including grants tied to cancer care campaigns at Vidant Health Foundation and ECU Health Foundation. Alongside those sectors, the foundation has supported conservation through The Conservation Fund for The Bunnen Nature Preserve and local renovation projects in Farmville and Greenville. The pattern shows a family foundation that mixes scholarship-related support, institutional program funding, and capital gifts for community-serving projects.
