About Assyrian National Council of Illinois
A single grant to the Assyrian Aid Society of America accounted for $635,955 in 2024, showing how much of this funder's recent giving is directed toward Assyrian community institutions with a mission-driven mandate. The Assyrian National Council of Illinois supports organizations that serve the local community through government-backed support and social services, with a stated emphasis on elderly care. Its recent grants also reach education, cultural preservation, childcare, youth sports, and community events, suggesting a broad community-service portfolio rather than a single-program strategy. The council’s giving shows continuity as well as scale. The Assyrian Aid Society of America received another large grant in 2023, and Assyrian Athletic Club was funded in both 2023 and 2024. That pattern points to repeat support for select grantees alongside newer awards. The foundation also backs organizations in Illinois and California, including community and media groups, religious institutions, and relief organizations tied to Assyrian and Iraqi Christian communities. Across the recent awards, the common thread is support for nonprofit organizations carrying out mission-specific work for a defined community.
What Assyrian National Council of Illinois Funds
In community relief and mutual aid, the council gave $55,000 in 2024 to Assyrian International Relief Fund and $20,828 to Assyrian Church of the East Releif Organization, both with the stated purpose of helping the organization achieve its mission and purpose. That same purpose language appears across the grant list, showing a general operating or unrestricted support style. The foundation also supports media and cultural connection work. It awarded $17,282 to Agn Assyrian Tv Network in San Jose and $220,000 in 2023 to Fg Productions in Des Plaines, both under the same mission-support wording. In youth and community life, it gave $31,000 in both 2023 and 2024 to Assyrian Athletic Club in Niles, and $7,200 to Mar Odisho Church in Chicago. These grants indicate support for organizations that serve cultural, religious, and community-building functions.
How Assyrian National Council of Illinois Gives
Typical grants cluster around a median of $20,414, with the middle half ranging from $11,250 at the 25th percentile to $49,000 at the 75th percentile. The recent list also includes several much larger awards, indicating that the council can make outsized grants alongside smaller operating awards. Grantmaking appears to repeat across years for some recipients: Assyrian Aid Society of America and Assyrian Athletic Club both received support in 2023 and 2024. The foundation is a regular funder and does not fund individuals. The grant language is highly consistent, with awards framed as support to help organizations achieve their mission and purpose.
