About American Society of Civil Engineers
The American Society of Civil Engineers primarily funds its own regional and local sections and related professional societies, supporting chapter operations, programming, and member services across the United States. It also invests in engineering education and student/university programs and makes targeted grants to international engineering service projects (e.g., Engineers Without Borders). The pattern reflects mission-aligned, operational support for the civil engineering profession rather than broad community social services.

About American Society of Civil Engineers
American Society of Civil Engineers Inc. directs its grantmaking toward the civil engineering profession itself, with recurring support for ASCE regional and local sections, university programs, and engineering service organizations. The largest recent awards show that pattern clearly: University of Nevada in Reno received $61,312 in both 2023 and 2024 for program support, while Engineers Without Borders in Boulder received $50,000 in both years for program support. Those repeated commitments point to a funder that backs ongoing chapter and program operations rather than isolated one-time projects. Chapter support is a major part of the portfolio. ASCE sections in Texas, Florida, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New Jersey, Metropolitan New York, Colorado, and the National Capital area appear among recent grants, usually labeled chapter program support. The foundation also funds broader professional and educational institutions such as the Boston Society of Civil Engineers, the National Academy of Sciences, and Washington State University. Across these grants, the emphasis stays close to civil engineering practice, professional development, and the organizations that deliver programming to members and students.
What American Society of Civil Engineers Funds
In chapter operations, the foundation backed several regional ASCE sections with program support, including $40,258 to Asce Texas Section in 2023, $30,228 to Asce Florida Section in 2023, and $28,892 to Asce Los Angeles Section in 2023. Similar awards continued in later years, showing sustained support for local professional societies. University and research-oriented grantmaking also appears in the portfolio. The University of Nevada in Reno received $61,312 in 2023 and again in 2024 for program support, and Washington State University received $13,500 in 2023. These grants indicate interest in engineering education and student-facing programming. The foundation also supports service-oriented engineering work. Engineers Without Borders in Boulder received $50,000 in both 2023 and 2024 for program support, linking the funder to civil engineering projects with a service component.
How American Society of Civil Engineers Gives
Typical grants are modest and clustered: p25 is $6,914, median is $8,888, and p75 is $13,657. The recent record shows repeated awards to the same recipients across 2023, 2024, and 2025, which suggests ongoing support rather than isolated gifts. This is a regular funder, not a DAF vehicle, and it does not fund individuals. The grant language is consistently program support or chapter program support, indicating restricted operating-style support for affiliated organizations and related institutions.
