About American Association of Community Colleges
The American Association of Community Colleges primarily funds workforce-development partnerships that build technical and career-entry skills at community colleges nationwide. They channel multi-year program support and employer-aligned training grants (often labeled “Skills to Succeed”) to public community college districts, their foundations, and industry partners to expand credentialing, apprenticeships, and employer-driven curricula. Their giving emphasizes practical job-readiness and industry partnerships rather than general operating support or policy advocacy.

About American Association of Community Colleges
The American Association of Community Colleges channels its grantmaking through employer-aligned workforce training at community colleges, with large program awards centered on the Skills to Succeed initiative. Recent grants show a strong pattern of support for public college systems, college foundations, and industry partners that are building career-entry skills, apprenticeships, and sector-specific credentials. That mix appears in awards such as $330,000 to City Colleges of Chicago and $330,000 to Dallas College, alongside a $300,000 grant to Houston Community College Foundation and $250,000 to Maricopa Community Colleges District. The foundation also reaches employers directly: Lockheed Martin Corp received $566,469 and Lincoln Electric received $344,731, both under Skills to Succeed. Across the grant list, the funder favors practical training infrastructure over general operating support, and its portfolio extends to community college systems, technical education partners, and college foundations serving local labor markets. The legal entity is a public charity with national giving and a recent annual grants total of $16,150,680.
What American Association of Community Colleges Funds
Workforce development is the clearest thread in the portfolio. The American Association of Community Colleges awarded $300,000 to Alamo Colleges Foundation for Skills to Succeed, reflecting support for college-based training tied to employer needs. Technical education also appears through $211,750 to Colorado Community College System Foundation for the same program, linking system-level capacity with job-focused instruction. Regional upskilling is present in awards such as $240,250 to Delgado Community College and $203,000 to Prince Georges Community College Foundation, both routed through community college institutions. Employer partnerships are another recurring theme: the funder directed $300,000 to Foundation for the Los Angeles Community Colleges, showing how the foundation backs multicampus and regional structures that can connect students to labor-market pathways.
How American Association of Community Colleges Gives
Typical grant size sits at $10,000 at the 25th percentile, $20,000 at the median, and $40,000 at the 75th percentile, though many recent awards are substantially larger because of program funding. The same Skills to Succeed label appears across multiple years, with grants recorded in both 2023 and 2025, indicating repeated program support rather than isolated one-time gifts. The foundation is a public charity and a regular funder, not a DAF or PRI vehicle. Several active programs, including MentorLinks and the Community College Innovation Challenge, accept unsolicited participation, while Metallica Scholars Initiative does not.
