About Alfred E Mann Charities
A 2025 $5,000,000 grant to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center captures the foundation’s pattern: Alfred E Mann Charities Inc directs substantial charitable support to established institutions, especially in health care and biomedical research. The recent grants list shows repeated seven-figure awards to major Southern California hospitals, research foundations, and university-linked medical programs, alongside gifts to a small number of arts and community organizations. This is a funder that works through concentrated institutional grants rather than a broad roster of small awards. Health-related support appears repeatedly across the portfolio, with gifts to Cedars-Sinai, City of Hope, UCLA Foundation, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, and USC-linked medical programs. The foundation also backs organizations outside medicine when they fit its broader charitable priorities, including cultural institutions and community-serving nonprofits in Los Angeles. Its grantmaking is regional, but the recipient list extends beyond one metro area and includes a small amount of international giving. The scale is meaningful even by institutional-funder standards, with multiple grants in the $1 million to $5 million range and recurring support for the same large organizations over several years.

In 2025, it awarded $1,500,000 to the UCLA Foundation and $250,000 to USC Neurorevascularization Center, both tied to health and science priorities. Children’s health is another visible theme. The foundation gave $1,000,000 to Children’s Hospital - Los Angeles in 2025 and another $1,000,000 to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in 2023, showing repeated support for pediatric care institutions. The portfolio also includes cancer and hospital-based care. City of Hope received $3,025,000 in 2024 and $2,025,000 in 2025, while Cedars-Sinai Medical Center received $1,000,000 in 2024 and $5,000,000 in 2025. Beyond health, the foundation funded arts and culture organizations, including $375,000 to the Simon Wiesenthal Center in 2024 and 2025, and $250,000 and $250,000 to Los Angeles Opera Company in 2024 and 2025.

Alfred E Mann Charities Inc is a regular funder, not a DAF and not an individual-giving funder. Grants are made through charitable support rather than program-related investments, and the listed programs show strategic, institution-based funding.
