The Ahmad & Elizabeth El-Hindi Foundation concentrates its giving on faith-driven peace and interfaith work alongside local higher-education institutions in the Syracuse area. Grants are split between support for Middle East peace and interfaith advocacy and targeted support for nearby colleges and university programs, suggesting a focus on both international religious diplomacy and local civic/educational strengthening.
Concentrated portfolio with a small number of mid-to-large grants, frequent repeat funding to a handful of core grantees, and a mix of one-time larger gifts (e.g., to national faith-based advocacy) and recurring local education/interfaith support.
A single $50,650 general-support grant to Churches for Middle East Peace sets the tone for Ahmad & Elizabeth El-hindi Foundation Inc’s giving: this funder pairs faith-based advocacy tied to the Middle East with steady support for Syracuse-area civic and educational institutions. The foundation’s recent grants show a clear mix of international peace work and local community investment, with Interfaith Works receiving $26,000 in 2024 after a $17,500 grant in 2023, and Lemoyne College and Syracuse University each appearing in consecutive years with general-support awards. That pattern points to a funder that uses flexible support rather than tightly restricted project grants. The portfolio also includes smaller grants to Muslim and interfaith organizations, health and learning programs, and campus-based groups, indicating attention to both religious dialogue and local service infrastructure. Because the largest awards go to peace and interfaith organizations while smaller gifts extend to neighborhood and university partners, the foundation’s role is best understood as a blend of values-based advocacy and place-based support centered in Central New York.
Faith-based peacebuilding is the clearest theme in the foundation’s grant history. It gave $50,650 in 2024 to Churches for Middle East Peace for general support, and $2,000 in both 2023 and 2024 to American Friends of Neve Shalom for general support. In Syracuse, interfaith and social-service work also receives sustained backing: Interfaith Works was awarded $26,000 in 2024 and $17,500 in 2023, both for general support. Higher-education support is another major thread. Lemoyne College received $12,000 in 2024 and $12,000 in 2023, while Syracuse University received $11,000 in 2024 and $10,000 in 2023, all as general support. Smaller grants to Rahma Health Clinic, North Side Learning Center, and Masjid Isa Ibn Maryam show that the foundation also funds community-facing organizations serving local residents.
Typical awards are modest and flexible: the grant-size distribution sits at $1,000 at the 25th percentile, $2,000 at the median, and $11,000 at the 75th percentile. At the same time, the foundation makes a few much larger grants, including one award of $50,650 in 2024. The recent record shows repeated support to the same recipients across 2023 and 2024, which indicates recurring relationships rather than one-off gifts. Grants are listed as general support or educational support, and the foundation does not fund individuals. Its structure, based on the filing data, is a private foundation with regional giving.
