About Ahimsa Foundation
Ahimsa Foundation’s recent grantmaking shows a clear emphasis on organizations that provide direct care for animals, with repeated support for shelters, rescues, feral cat programs, and spay/neuter services. The foundation uses invitation-only grant cycles, and its active programs are built around organizations that house or serve animals rather than individuals. Recent awards include $90,000 to Homecoming Farm Inc in Brockton, Massachusetts, and multiple grants to Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals in Windham, Maine. The same pattern appears with New England Wildlife Center in Weymouth and South Weymouth, Massachusetts, where support was recorded in more than one year. Ahimsa Foundation also backs specialty animal-care organizations such as City Critters Inc in New York, Equine Advocates Inc in Chatham, New York, and Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation in Kendalia, Texas. The mix of grantees suggests a portfolio that spans domestic animals, wildlife, and other animal-protection work, while staying centered on direct service and operational support for organizations caring for animals.
What Ahimsa Foundation Funds
Ahimsa Foundation gives across several animal-focused niches, but the common thread is direct service. In sheltering and rescue, it awarded $37,500 to City Critters Inc in New York for support for animals, and also funded The Wildcat Sanctuary in Sandstone, Minnesota for the same purpose. The foundation also supports wildlife care. New England Wildlife Center in Weymouth received $60,000 in 2025 and $47,500 in 2023, both listed as support for animals. Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation in Kendalia, Texas received $34,000 in 2024 and $25,000 in 2025. Equine work is another visible area: Equine Advocates Inc in Chatham, New York received $25,000 in 2023, $24,000 in 2024, and $25,000 in 2025, while Rockin' T Equine Rescue in Lisbon Falls, Maine received $30,000 in 2023 and $20,000 in 2024. The foundation also funded Elephant Aid International in Attapulgus, Georgia in 2024 and 2025.
How Ahimsa Foundation Gives
Typical grants are modest to mid-sized, with a p25 of $8,000, a median of $10,000, and a p75 of $15,000. The recent grants list also shows larger repeat awards, including several grants at $20,000 to $90,000. The pattern is recurring rather than one-off: Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals, New England Wildlife Center, City Critters Inc, Equine Advocates Inc, and Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation each appear across multiple years. Ahimsa Foundation is a private foundation with no program-related investments and no individual giving. Its active cycles are invitation-only, and applicants are directed through an online portal after being invited.
