The Foundation does not fund lobbying or political action groups, labor unions, individuals, endowment-building campaigns, fraternal organizations, fund drives, travel or transportation costs, and generally does not fund building funds, capital improvements, grant-making foundations, short-term deficits, or fundraising events.

Preference is generally given to projects demonstrating clear community benefit, collaboration, realistic budgets and implementation plans, additional funding or local support, and sustainable impact. Applicants must watch the grant application video and review the grant guidelines before applying. Repeat requests for the same project or purpose within the previous 12 months receive lower preference.

One award per individual, family, group, or organization per calendar year is permitted, subject to final reporting requirements. Funds must be used within one year of award.
