Proposals must include a public community engagement component. Full-time students are ineligible. Brooklyn-based artists or collectives must have a Brooklyn-based fiscal sponsor or community partner; NYC-based artists or collectives outside Brooklyn need a Brooklyn-based fiscal sponsor. Organizations that sought NYSCA funding are ineligible for this grant.

Applications must be complete and legible and include the most recent audited financial statement or an explanation and the most recent Form 990, plus a list of board members, executive leadership, and other key personnel or volunteers involved in the project. Funding is not available for private benefits, retroactive costs, ongoing operational costs, conferences, forums, workshops, or loans. Final reports must be submitted before applying for another grant, and recipients must publicly recognize the Foundation's support.
