Audited financial statements are required. Charities located outside Palm Beach County, individuals, private foundations, religious or politically affiliated organizations, debt reduction or operating deficits, capital projects, and bridge funding are not eligible. National organizations must apply through a local chapter with a local board of directors and a project or program benefiting Palm Beach County residents.

Eligible applicants include tax-exempt organizations with a current 501(c)(3) public charity determination letter; individuals demonstrating a literary, artistic, musical, or teaching purpose; and other organizations considered case by case. Priority is given to organizations physically located within Hyde Park-Kenwood, or organizations outside the area with at least three years of programs or services in the community; organizations serving children and youth; organizations stimulating economic development; organizations promoting Hyde Park-Kenwood's cultural and economic diversity; and organizations promoting cultural arts originating in Chicago, preferably Hyde Park-Kenwood. Requests for legislative advocacy, political candidates, research or survey projects, dinner or raffle tickets, advertising in dinner programs, and traveling exhibitions or performances not originating in Chicago are not considered.

Current and previous fiscal-year organizational budgets must be less than $1,000,000. Organizations without their own 501(c)(3) may apply with a fiscal sponsor. Applicants may submit only one request per year. Funds may not be used for lobbying, for-profit businesses, individuals, political candidates, research, capital support, or scholarships. Organizations receiving grants through the foundation's other grant programs are not eligible.
