This foundation focuses exclusively on animal-related charitable work, directing all of its documented giving to a single organization. Its support is concentrated and repeatable, indicating a strong, targeted commitment to the program run by PAWS OF HONOR. The grants suggest the foundation prioritizes animal welfare and/or service animal programs that likely benefit veterans, first responders, or people with disabilities.
Scott a & Phyllis P Crabtree Family Foundation Inc has documented giving that is highly concentrated in animal-related work, with multiple grants to Paws of Honor Inc and related support for humane treatment programs. One of its largest recent grants was $69,500 in 2025 to Paws of Honor Inc in Williamsburg, Virginia for general support, followed by $52,301 in 2024 to the same organization. That repeat pattern points to a foundation that backs a specific organizational model over time rather than spreading funds broadly across many institutions. The foundation’s recent grants also show that it supports service and assistance dog work alongside broader animal welfare efforts. Paws of Honor has received funds for veterinary care and products for retired military and law enforcement K-9s, while Best Friends Animal Society and Forsyth Humane Society have each received support for programs that provide for the humane treatment of animals. In the rest of its documented grantmaking, the foundation appears to make selective awards in other public-benefit areas such as education, health, homelessness services, and community support, but its animal-related giving remains the clearest throughline in the record.
Animal welfare is the most visible theme in the foundation’s grant history. In 2025, it gave $25,000 to Forsyth Humane Society in Winston-Salem, North Carolina for programs that provide for the humane treatment of animals, and it made the same-purpose grant to Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, Utah in both 2024 and 2025. Service and assistance dog work is another recurring line of support. The foundation gave $20,000 in 2023 to Paws of Honor in McLean, Virginia to provide veterinary care and products for retired military and law enforcement K-9s. Outside animal-related work, the foundation has backed health and human services. It granted $25,000 to Children’s National Hospital Foundation in Silver Spring, Maryland for the Stress First Aid Program for Healing the Healers, and $20,000 to Durham Rescue Mission in Durham, North Carolina for programs to aid people experiencing homelessness and individuals battling addiction.
Typical grants cluster at modest to mid-sized levels: p25 is $2,053, the median is $5,000, and p75 is $10,000. The recent record also includes a smaller number of larger awards in the $20,000 to $69,500 range. The pattern is repeat funding rather than one-off giving, with the same recipients appearing across multiple years, especially Paws of Honor Inc, Best Friends Animal Society, Forsyth Humane Society, Durham Rescue Mission, and St Stephen’s and St Agnes School. The foundation is a family foundation and funds individuals, but the grants shown here are program and general-support awards to organizations. No application process is stated in the data.
