The Richard Reed Foundation seeks to create stronger communities by supporting smaller, forward-thinking nonprofit organizations focused on mental and physical health, child health and development, community welfare, animal welfare, and environmental impact.
The Richard Reed Foundation’s recent giving shows a clear tilt toward smaller nonprofits working in animal welfare, equine therapy, adaptive sports, youth programs, and family support. One of its largest recent grants went to Las Animas Dog Rescue Association Ac (LADRA) in Buenos Aires for facility expenses, which sits alongside sizable support for Colorado-based service organizations and California disability-focused groups. The foundation also backs programs that combine direct services with capacity needs, including staffing, volunteer support, and facility costs. Recent grants point to a mix of human services and animal care. There With Care received support for families with children facing critical illness, while Home Fur Good in Phoenix was funded for medical treatment expenses for shelter animals. The foundation has also supported environmental education and school-related programming, such as grants to Environmental Learning for Kids and Sun Valley Youth Center. Across these awards, the Richard Reed Foundation appears to prioritize smaller organizations and practical needs rather than large, restricted campaigns. Its recent activity includes both program-specific funding and general operating support, with several grants tied to training, scholarships, and infrastructure. The result is a portfolio that connects community welfare, animal rescue, and youth development through direct service grants.
In equine therapy, the foundation supported Robin's Nest Foundation in Castle Rock, Colorado with $25,000 for equine therapy and Robin's Nest with $37,000 for equine therapy program expenses and a middle/high school equine therapy program. It also funded Halleck Creek Ranch in Nicasio, California for equine therapy program expenses. Animal rescue and shelter care is another visible area. Napa Wildlife Rescue in Napa received $22,750 for staffing costs and $21,000 for employee support and animal care, while 4 Paws 4 Life in Sedalia was awarded $20,000 for a spay/neuter program for rescued animals. The foundation also funds youth and education-related programs. Sun Valley Youth Center in Denver received $30,000 for afterschool and summer programming for youth in Sun Valley Neighborhood, and Environmental Learning for Kids in Denver received $25,000 for environmental education and a college scholarship program. For people with disabilities, Achieve Tahoe in Truckee received $15,000 for adaptive sports programming.
