Provides support for animal welfare, wildlife protection, and human–animal bond efforts.
Red Acre Farm Inc Dba Red Acre Foundation centers its giving on animal welfare, wildlife protection, and the human-animal bond, with recent grants consistently supporting rescues, humane societies, and therapeutic equine programs. Its active grant programs name spay/neuter, wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, equine and canine rescue, humane education, and humane society projects as eligible purposes, and they also allow special projects, operating funds, and occasionally capital projects for qualified 501(c)(3) organizations in Maine, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. Recent awards show that the foundation backs both animal care and the organizations that deliver it. Medicine Horse Center in Mancos, Colorado received $12,000 in 2025 and $11,000 in 2024, while Gerda's Equine Rescue in West Townshend, Vermont received $12,000 in 2024. Other recipients include Friendship Works in Boston, Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society in Leverett, and Second Chance Animal Shelter in East Brookfield, each awarded $11,000 in 2025. The grant list also includes wildlife groups, equine rescues, cat shelters, and humane societies across New England and beyond, reflecting a portfolio built around direct service to animals and the organizations that care for them.
One clear thread is equine-focused work. The foundation gave $10,000 in 2023 to Windrush Farm Theraputic Equitation Inc in North Andover, Massachusetts, and its program language explicitly includes therapeutic riding. It also supports equine rescue, as seen in grants to Rockin T Equine Rescue in Lisbon Falls, Maine and Equine Voices Rescue Sanctuary in Green Valley, Arizona. Wildlife protection is another recurring area. New England Wildlife Center in Weymouth, Massachusetts received $10,000 in 2025, while Center for Wildlife in York, Maine received $10,000 in both 2023 and 2025. The program descriptions also reference wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, which matches those awards. The foundation also funds humane society and companion-animal work. Examples include Animal Rescue League of Boston, Pat Brody Shelter for Cats in Lunenburg, Massachusetts, and Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire in Bedford.
Typical awards are tightly clustered: the 25th percentile is $8,000, the median is $9,000, and the 75th percentile is $10,000. Recent grants show repeated support to the same organizations across years, including Medicine Horse Center, Center for Wildlife, Rockin T Equine Rescue, Red Gate Farm, and Equine Voices Rescue Sanctuary, indicating ongoing relationships rather than one-time awards. The foundation makes grants through named grant programs and accepts unsolicited applications. It gives to eligible 501(c)(3) organizations and includes operating support among its grant uses, with occasional capital projects also mentioned in program language.
