The Peter Marino Charitable Foundation concentrates its giving on preservation and support of fine arts, historic sites, and cultural institutions. Grants favor major museums and specialized conservation projects—both in New York and notable European heritage sites—often funding the preservation of architecture, historic interiors, and manuscript collections. The foundation makes a small number of relatively large grants and shows repeat support for specific preservation projects.
A $108,000 grant to Myriad - Intl Friends of Vaus Le Vicomte in 2025 anchors the Peter Marino Charitable Foundation’s recent giving and signals its preservation-first approach. The foundation supports heritage institutions, museums, and cultural organizations through grants that often fund the upkeep of historic places, art collections, manuscripts, and decorative arts. Its recent record includes repeat support for the manor and history of Vaux-le-Vicomte, along with ongoing grants to Venetian Heritage Inc for preserving historic art. The foundation also backs major New York cultural institutions. Grants to The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Morgan Library & Museum show attention to both public art access and the conservation of literary and historic manuscripts. Other recent recipients include Friends of the Musee Des Arts Decoratifs, Carnegie Hall, The Metropolitan Opera, Guild Hall East Hampton, and the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons. The pattern suggests a grantmaker focused on cultural preservation and selected local community or institutional support rather than broad programmatic funding.
Historic preservation is the clearest throughline in the foundation’s grantmaking. In 2025, it gave $108,000 to Myriad - Intl Friends of Vaus Le Vicomte to preserve the art and history of the manor of Vaux-le-Vicomte, and it also made a $49,253 grant to Venetian Heritage Inc for promoting and preserving historic art. The foundation supports museum and collection work as well. It awarded $83,618 to The Metropolitan Museum of Art for art support and $65,000 to Morgan Lobrary & Museum to preserve literary and historic manuscripts. Decorative arts also appear in the record: Friends of the Musee Des Arts Decoratifs received $25,000 in 2025 to promote the decorative arts. These grants point to interest in institutions that conserve objects, interiors, and archival materials rather than general operating support alone.
Typical grants cluster around modest-to-mid five figures: p25 is $5,000, median is $10,000, and p75 is $25,000. The recent record shows a few larger awards, including $108,000 and $83,618, but many grants sit at $10,000 to $25,000. The foundation appears to make repeated awards to the same recipients across multiple years, including Myriad - Intl Friends of Vaus Le Vicomte, Venetian Heritage Inc, Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons, Carnegie Hall, and Chapin School Ltd. It is a private foundation; it does not fund individuals and does not make program-related investments.
