The McPherson Family Foundation concentrates philanthropic support on international child-focused poverty alleviation and education programs, primarily in East and West Africa and Haiti. They favor faith-based or Christian-affiliated partners that run schools, orphan care, health and community development projects, and they prioritize long-term, transformational work that combines education with holistic wellbeing. Grants are sizable and often repeated to the same organizations, indicating sustained partnerships rather than one-off gifts.
A defining feature of Mcpherson Family Foundation is its repeated, high-dollar support for The Children of the Nile, which received $1,237,789 in 2025 and $984,600 in 2024 to fight poverty and cultivate hope for future generations in Uganda. That pattern fits the foundation’s broader approach: it backs long-running partnerships with organizations working on child-focused poverty alleviation, education, orphan care, health, and community development, often in East and West Africa and Haiti. The foundation’s grants show a preference for faith-based or Christian-affiliated partners carrying out direct service work, from schools and discipleship programs to holistic child wellbeing and community transformation. Repeated awards to Second Mile Haiti, Asone Ministries, Worldwide Orphans, and A Hope for Children point to sustained relationships rather than isolated gifts. Alongside overseas work, the foundation also supports a smaller set of Colorado-based efforts, including family support, homelessness services, and education-related programs. Its giving profile combines large program grants with targeted support for organizations serving children, women, families, and rural communities.
Education is a central theme in the foundation’s grants. Schools for Salone received $320,000 in 2025 and $194,250 in 2024 to expand education in Sierra Leone. Hope Haven Rwanda also received $100,000 in 2025 for Christ-centered education and discipleship with students and families. The foundation also backed Tcon Farm Initiatives Inc with $22,000 in 2025 to develop a farm in Uganda for educational purposes. Child welfare and orphan support appear in several grants as well: Worldwide Orphans received $320,000 in 2025 and $230,000 in 2024 to support education and holistic wellbeing, while A Hope for Children received $150,000 in both 2024 and 2025 for Ethiopian orphans infected with HIV. In Haiti, Second Mile Haiti received $735,000 in 2025 for healthcare, education, and community-building projects for women, children, and communities.
Typical grant size ranges from $7,644 at the 25th percentile to $18,258 at the median, with the 75th percentile at $183,188. The recent record shows repeat funding across years, including several organizations receiving follow-on grants in both 2024 and 2025. That recurring pattern suggests ongoing partnerships rather than one-time awards. Mcpherson Family Foundation is a regular funder, not a donor-advised fund, and it also funds individuals. The recent grants mix large program awards with smaller local gifts, which produces a wide spread in check size.
