About Lifestance Health Foundation
Lifestance Health Foundation’s giving is defined by repeated support for suicide prevention and national mental health advocacy. The largest recent grants in the record went to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, including $69,900 in 2024 and another $69,900 in 2023 for general operations, showing a clear pattern of sustained backing rather than one-off project funding. In 2025, the foundation also made a $40,000 general operating grant to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, reinforcing its interest in organizations that work at national scale. Beyond those larger awards, the foundation’s recent grants list includes many smaller general operating gifts across a wide range of nonprofits. Several recipients are mental health related, such as The Jed Foundation, Free Black Therapy Inc, Nami Contra Costa County, and Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center, while others address broader community needs. That mix suggests a grantmaker focused on organizational support for nonprofits connected to mental health, crisis response, and related community services. The foundation’s profile is shaped less by local project funding than by general operating support for groups with broad reach.
What Lifestance Health Foundation Funds
Mental health advocacy is central to the foundation’s giving. In 2025, it gave $40,000 to the National Alliance on Mental Illness for general operations, and it also supported Nami Contra Costa County with a $550 general operating grant. Suicide prevention is another major theme. The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention received $69,900 in both 2024 and 2023, each designated for general operations, which points to sustained support for suicide-prevention infrastructure and public-facing work. The foundation also funds organizations tied to broader emotional and behavioral health support. The Jed Foundation received a $550 general operating grant in 2025, while Free Black Therapy Inc and First Aid of the Soul each received $550 for general operations. These grants show attention to advocacy, access, and community-based support within mental health.
How Lifestance Health Foundation Gives
Typical grant size is tightly clustered at $450 for the 25th percentile, median, and 75th percentile, even though the recent grants list also includes larger awards of $40,000 and $69,900.
