The Edna M and Aaron E Gingerich Foundation gives locally in Sarasota, concentrating most of its dollars on a single faith-based congregation while also supporting local healthcare and Christian education. Grants are typically unrestricted (“any charitable purpose”) and favor repeated commitments to a few familiar institutions rather than broad, one-off funding across many organizations. The foundation’s giving reflects a clear preference for local religious life, community health, and education within Sarasota County.
A single Sarasota congregation received the foundation’s largest recent gift: $103,449 to Abundant Life in 2025 for any charitable purpose. That pattern sets the tone for Edna M and Aaron E Gingerich Foundation Incorporated’s grantmaking. The foundation gives locally and repeatedly, with a clear preference for unrestricted support to a small circle of Sarasota-area organizations rather than a broad portfolio of recipients. Across the recent grants list, the same institutions reappear year after year, including Abundant Life, Sarasota Memorial Hospital Foundation, Sarasota Christian School, and New College Foundation. The grants are framed as “any charitable purpose,” which gives recipients flexibility in how they use the funds. Most dollars stay in Sarasota, and the foundation’s activity centers on faith-based work, community health, and Christian education. Even smaller awards follow the same pattern of local, discretionary support, including funding to various charities and other Sarasota nonprofits. The result is a grantmaking profile defined less by formal program categories than by sustained relationships with familiar local institutions.
Faith-based support is a major part of the foundation’s work. In 2024, it gave $26,756 to Abundant Life, and the congregation also received a $13,584 grant in 2023, both for any charitable purpose. Healthcare appears through repeated support for Sarasota Memorial Hospital Foundation. The organization received $10,000 in 2025, alongside two $10,000 grants in 2024 and another $10,000 grant in 2023, all described as any charitable purpose. Education is another recurring theme. Sarasota Christian School received $9,886 in 2023 and two $1,598 grants in 2024, again with unrestricted use. Higher education also appears in the list: New College Foundation received $10,000 in 2025 for any charitable purpose. Smaller grants show the same flexible approach, including support to New Hope and various charities in Sarasota.
Typical grant size is modest, with a p25 of $1,598, a median of $7,278, and a p75 of $10,000. The pattern is relationship-driven rather than one-off: Abundant Life, Sarasota Memorial Hospital Foundation, and Sarasota Christian School each appear in multiple years, often with repeated awards. The foundation is a private foundation, and its grants are described as unrestricted support for any charitable purpose. No application process is shown in the data.
