Cook Family Foundation General Grants

¿Quién puede postularse? Primarily serves residents of Shiawassee County; applicants should have strong representation of Shiawassee County residents in governance or other effective engagement; grants must be charitable and serve a public benefit; nonprofits based in the community are preferred; no individuals, political campaigns, direct lobbying, or religious purposes.

Fecha límite: Quarterly board meeting review; a visible deadline was listed as September 4, 2026 for the October 2026 Board Meeting. Rolling applications are accepted.

Talk Tech With Your Board

¿Quién puede postularse? The organization must be a participating member in the Foundation's nonprofit capacity building program.

Environment Grants / Land Protection Grants

¿Quién puede postularse? Projects in Shiawassee County and/or the Shiawassee River watershed are eligible; consideration may also be given to land protection efforts in the Saginaw Bay watershed or areas of importance to the Cook family legacy. Preference is given to innovative projects, those that leverage other funding, and those that build capacity of a Michigan nonprofit organization serving Shiawassee County.

Fecha límite: Applications accepted throughout the year; reviewed at quarterly Board meetings.

Recycling Grants / Recycling Initiative

¿Quién puede postularse? Projects must support recycling in Shiawassee County and align with the foundation's recycling and sustainability goals. The foundation emphasizes collaboration, public engagement, and work that helps build a local recycling ecosystem.

Nonprofit Capacity Building (including 'Tech Talk' networking)

¿Quién puede postularse? Nonprofits in Shiawassee County may participate if they serve Shiawassee County residents and meet the Foundation's participation requirements, including local board representation and nonprofit status expectations.
