About Central National Gottesman Foundation
A defining feature of Central National Gottesman Foundation’s recent giving is its repeated, high-dollar support for established institutions in higher education and the arts. The foundation has made $300,000 grants to Skidmore College, Pace University, and the Museum of Modern Art, and it returned in later years with $200,000 awards to Skidmore College, MoMA, and the American Museum of Natural History. That pattern points to a funder that favors general-purpose support for large nonprofits rather than narrowly scoped project grants. Its portfolio also includes major support for universities and cultural organizations outside New York City, including Rutgers University, Villanova University, and Westchester Community College Foundation Inc. The foundation’s giving extends beyond institutional philanthropy: it has also funded disaster and humanitarian response through Americares Foundation Inc and Doctors Without Borders USA Inc, alongside occasional support for food access and other community needs. Across the recent record, the foundation gives substantial awards to a relatively small set of organizations, with several recipients appearing more than once over multiple years.
