About Barbasol Foundation
Barbasol Foundation’s largest recent grant was $125,000 to Christo Rey Orlando for new high school operations, a clear sign that Cristo Rey model schools sit at the center of its giving. The foundation also underwrites student work-study placements, including $37,250 to Cristo Rey Columbus HS Work Study in 2023 to cover the cost for two students placed at the Childhood League. That pattern points to support for tuition-alternative Catholic college-preparatory education tied to career-connected learning, not just school overhead. Alongside Cristo Rey funding, the foundation makes recurring grants to organizations serving children, families, and young adults in Ohio communities. Recent examples include $25,000 to Treasure House in Glendale for general operating support of a housing program for young adults with cognitive or developmental disabilities, and repeated grants to A Kid Again in Columbus for family adventure programming for children with life-threatening illnesses. The foundation also backs food support, mindfulness training, arts-based school residencies, and volunteer training. Its recent grants show a mix of operating support, participant underwriting, and program-specific funding.
What Barbasol Foundation Funds
The foundation’s education giving is most visible in Cristo Rey support. In 2024 it gave $125,000 to Christo Rey Orlando for new high school operations, and it also funded Cristo Rey Columbus HS Work Study in both 2023 and 2024 to cover student participation costs in the work-study program. It also supports disability-related housing and family services. Treasure House received $25,000 in both 2023 and 2024 for general operating support of a program where young adults with cognitive or developmental disabilities live mostly on their own. A Kid Again received $20,000 in 2023 and $15,000 in 2024 for family adventure programming for children with life-threatening illnesses. Other grants address school and family needs directly. Wellity Education received $13,000 for Mindfulness in Schools teacher training, Family Mentor Foundation received $7,500 for the Buddy Box weekend food program, and Homeport received $6,000 for afterschool programming serving low-income children.
