The Amy and Chip Pearson Family Foundation concentrates its giving locally in St. Paul, MN, with a strong emphasis on private K–12 education and neighborhood-level community services. The foundation makes relatively large, targeted grants and shows a pattern of repeat support to a small number of organizations rather than broad, scattered giving.
Concentrated, high-dollar giving with repeat grants to a very small set of local organizations (two organizations account for 100% of recorded giving).
The Amy and Chip Pearson Family Foundation’s largest recent grant was $191,000 to St Paul Academy and Summit School in 2025, and that award fits a clear pattern of concentrated support for a small set of Twin Cities institutions. The foundation’s recent giving shows sustained backing for private K–12 education, neighborhood-based social services, and locally rooted economic development groups in St. Paul and Minneapolis. St Paul Academy and Summit School appears repeatedly across multiple years, with awards ranging from $25,000 to $166,000 before the 2025 grant. Neighborhood House is another recurring recipient, with grants of $25,000, $90,000, and $100,000 in the recent record. The foundation also supports organizations tied to entrepreneurship and community development, including Neighborhood Development Center, Milkweed Editions, and Mill City Farmers Market. Across the record, the grants are targeted rather than widely dispersed, and the same institutions tend to receive follow-on support over time. That pattern suggests a funder focused on maintaining relationships with a limited number of local partners rather than rotating among many grantees.
In education, the foundation gave $191,000 to St Paul Academy and Summit School in 2025 after awarding $166,000 in 2024 and $40,000 in 2023, showing durable support for one school community. For neighborhood services, it gave $100,000 to Neighborhood House in 2025 and $90,000 in 2024, alongside earlier support of $25,000 in 2023. In community support work, Keystone Community Services received $10,000 in 2024 and $10,000 in 2025, while Key Stone Community Services received $10,000 in 2023. Its entrepreneurship-related grants include $25,000 to Neighborhood Development Center in 2025 and $15,000 to Mill City Farmers Market in 2025. The foundation also supported Women Venture with $10,000 in 2023.
Typical grants cluster tightly around one level: p25 is $5,000, median is $5,000, and p75 is $10,000. The recent record also includes larger targeted awards, but those appear alongside many smaller grants. Recipients recur across multiple years, especially St Paul Academy and Summit School, Neighborhood House, Second Harvest Heartland, Mill City Farmers Market, and Northern Star Scouting. The foundation is a family foundation and does not fund individuals or make program-related investments. The grant record points to program and project support rather than open-ended, broad-distribution giving.
