The Alvin and Louise Myerberg Family Foundation concentrates its giving locally in Baltimore, with major support to the Jewish community and to arts education. Most dollars go to a small number of sizable grants, notably repeated awards to the Associated Jewish Charities and to the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). The foundation appears oriented toward sustaining local communal infrastructure and cultural institutions rather than broad national giving.
Concentrated, few large grants with repeats to the same organizations; primarily local focus (Baltimore) and split between Jewish communal support and arts/education
Notable grantees: ASSOCIATED JEWISH CHARITIES, THE ASSOCIATED JEWISH CHARITIES, MICA (Maryland Institute College of Art)
A small cluster of repeated, sizable grants defines the Alvin and Louise Myerberg Family Foundation’s recent giving. The foundation returned to Associated Jewish Charities in Baltimore with grants of $71,000 in 2023, $71,000 in 2024, and $73,000 in 2025, and it also backed Maryland Institute College of Art with $70,000 in 2023 and $70,000 in 2024. Those awards sit alongside support for Baltimore institutions such as Gilman School, Baltimore Jewelry Center, and Lifebridge Health, showing a pattern of sustaining local communal and cultural infrastructure through program and general support. The foundation’s grant list also shows steady support for arts education and youth development. Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra received $30,000 in 2023 and $20,000 in 2024, while Publicolor appeared in multiple years with both program and general support. Other grantees include Bryn Mawr College and Young Concert Artists Inc, indicating that the foundation’s interests extend beyond Baltimore even as its most substantial relationships remain rooted there. Grantmaking is concentrated in a limited set of recipients rather than spread widely across many small awards.
Jewish communal support is central to the foundation’s recent grantmaking. Associated Jewish Charities received $71,000 in 2023, $71,000 in 2024, and $73,000 in 2025 for program support, making it one of the clearest recurring relationships in the file. Arts and design education is another visible area. Maryland Institute College of Art received $70,000 in 2023 and $70,000 in 2024 for program support, and the foundation also supported Baltimore Jewelry Center with $20,000 in 2024 and $25,000 in 2025. Youth music and arts organizations appear in several cities. Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra received $30,000 in 2023 and $20,000 in 2024, while Chesapeake Youth Symphony Orchestra in Annapolis received $20,000 in 2023. Publicolor in New York received grants in 2023, 2024, and 2025 across both program and general support.
Typical grant size is modest relative to the foundation’s larger awards: the 25th percentile is $2,575, the median is $5,000, and the 75th percentile is $10,000. That spread suggests many smaller grants sit beneath a narrower set of much larger commitments. The recipient list also shows repeat relationships across multiple years, including Associated Jewish Charities, Maryland Institute College of Art, Publicolor, Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra, and Gilman School. The foundation is a regular funder, not a DAF vehicle, and it does not fund individuals or make program-related investments.
