Preference is given to small organizations and newer organizations approaching a breakthrough moment. Organizations with annual operating budgets over $3 million are seldom funded. Organizations that have received Ramlose Foundation funding for three consecutive years are not eligible to apply in 2026.

Organizations with an annual operating budget over $3 million are rarely funded. Organizations that have received Ramlose Foundation funding for three consecutive years are not eligible to apply in 2026.
Who can apply: Nonprofit organizations whose work aligns with the foundation's mission, legacy grant focus areas, and other restrictions/deadlines. Applicants must complete an eligibility quiz before receiving access to the application form and submission instructions.
Who can apply: First-time applicants must submit a brief 250-word online pre-application. Organizations that have not received SBM Charitable Foundation funding within the last two years must use the pre-application. Past SBM Charitable Foundation grant recipients within the last two years may use the formal Request for Grant form. The foundation gives priority to organizations serving predominantly East of the River in Hartford, Tolland, and Windham Counties and within its stated focus areas.
Who can apply: IRS 501(c)(3) organizations may apply; public libraries may also apply. Local programs outside New Britain and Waterbury are eligible, and small nonprofits serving New Britain or Waterbury may apply if agency budget is not greater than $250,000 for the relevant use case. No more than one Community Grant per agency in a calendar year, and agencies with a Program Grant in the past 12 months are not eligible.
