We connect people and resources to address local challenges and opportunities
Huntington County Community Fdtn Inc’s recent giving is anchored by major support for Pathfinder Services, including a $1,006,000 grant in 2023 and a $531,627 grant in 2025. That scale sits alongside a broad pattern of local funding that includes operating support, scholarships, rapid-response aid, and community project grants. The foundation describes its work as connecting people and resources to address local challenges and opportunities, and its programs show that in practice: scholarship pools for Huntington County students, immediate-needs grants for time-sensitive organizational problems, and targeted funds for substance abuse recovery. Recent awards also show sustained support for organizations serving residents across housing, youth services, aging services, food and emergency assistance, and community health. Pathfinder Services is one of the clearest examples of the foundation’s larger commitments, while Place of Grace, Boys & Girls Club of Huntington, Huntington University, and Huntington County Humane Society appear among other recurring grantees in the recent record.
Education is a standing part of the foundation’s work. It runs a pooled scholarship application through Community Scholarship Opportunities and a separate Community Scholarship Process that brings together dozens of donor-funded scholarships for post-secondary students, most for Huntington County residents. It also funds classroom projects through Classroom Education Grants for teachers and administrators. In community support, the foundation backs local organizations through general grant cycles and operating support, including grants to Huntington County Comm Schools and United Way of Huntington County. Substance abuse prevention and recovery is another named priority, with a dedicated Substance Abuse Response Fund and Substance Abuse Recovery Grants program focused on prevention, education, intervention, recovery, transportation, and recovery homes. It also supports immediate-needs grants for urgent organizational problems.
Typical grants are modest relative to the foundation’s largest awards: the 25th percentile is $7,314, the median is $11,252, and the 75th percentile is $23,201. The recent record shows both one-time project grants and recurring support, with several recipients appearing across multiple years, including Pathfinder Services, Place of Grace, Boys & Girls Club of Huntington, Huntington University, New Life Ministries, and The Salvation Army of Huntington Co. The foundation appears to use a community foundation structure with multiple grant programs and pooled scholarship processes. Unsolicited applications are accepted in several active programs, including scholarships, immediate needs, substance abuse recovery, general grant cycles, classroom education grants, and hometown grants.
