Richmond Thrives Grants Program: Arts & Culture Fund

Who can apply: Applicants must be tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) and in good standing with the IRS and Virginia State Corporation Commission; have arts/cultural programming as the primary mission or clear mission/strategic-plan focus; have at least two completed fiscal years of arts and cultural programming and two years of tax-exempt nonprofit status evidenced by two IRS Form 990 filings; have a total operating budget of at least $25,000 for the current fiscal year; be located in the greater Richmond region and directly benefit City of Richmond residents; and be in good standing on prior City of Richmond and/or CultureWorks-administered grants. Fiscal sponsors may apply if they independently meet all eligibility requirements and assume full responsibility. Ineligible applicants include individual artists, for-profit entities, K-12 schools, colleges and universities and their departments, units of government, religious congregations (except auxiliary 501(c)(3) organizations for secular arts programming), organizations debarred or suspended from federal funding, and organizations that have applied for funding in another Richmond Thrives priority area for FY27.
