Two open programs funding very different ends of the health and human services spectrum: small community grants distributed widely, and larger awards concentrated in a handful of healthcare-improvement institutions. Both close in the next three weeks.

What we know: Rosendin Foundation made 254 grants over 2023-2025 totaling $3.5M, with 125 of those landing in 2025 alone — high volume, modest amounts. Median grant: $10K (lifetime) and $14K (latest year). Geographically distributed: California (69 grants), Texas (51), Oregon (27), North Carolina (24), and Virginia (20) — no single state dominates. Grantee mix is heavily community human services — recent recipients include Family House, HomePlate Youth Services, Child Advocates of Silicon Valley, Mobile Hope, and LifeMoves, each receiving $60K-$70K across multiple grants. Most awards cluster at the lower end of the published $5K-$100K range.

Realistic fit: small to mid-size community human services nonprofits operating in their multi-state footprint — homeless services, youth advocacy, family stability work. Don't expect six figures on a first ask; expect $10K-$20K and a chance to renew.

What we know: ABIM Foundation made 47 grants over 2023-2025 totaling $1.5M, median $20K. The headline range ($50K-$100K) is the published RFP, but historical median is well below that — most grants are in the $15K-$25K band. Concentration is significant: the Institute for Healthcare Improvement received $524K across 2 grants — 35% of all ABIM lifetime giving — and AcademyHealth got another $228K. Grantee mix skews heavily toward higher education and health services organizations, with recipients evenly spread across Texas, Pennsylvania, New York, DC, and California. Grants fund work advancing physician professionalism, healthcare equity, and the social contract between physicians and society.

Realistic fit: established healthcare institutions, medical schools, or nonprofits with a track record of healthcare-improvement research and ABIM-relevant networks. The published $50K-$100K range is for new RFPs; expect concentration on a small set of repeat recipients.

Both programs reward established, place-based work — Rosendin for broad community human services in 15 states, ABIM for medical professionalism with deep institutional ties. Neither is a fit for early-stage organizations or work outside healthcare and human services.
