Stiftung Backsteingotik supports the preservation, restoration, and emergency recovery of protected historic buildings and monuments across Germany. Its giving is especially focused on practical conservation work, skilled craftsmanship in monument restoration, and training the next generation of restorers. The foundation also recognizes excellence in heritage trades through awards and provides rapid aid when monuments are damaged by fire, floods, or other disasters.
