Projects with measurable, immediate effects on the ground rank above purely educational ones, and proposals are capped at five pages. Decisions arrive by email about six weeks after the deadline.

Realistic fit: US conservation nonprofits with an active restoration or protection campaign that needs a media push and a track record to point to.

What we know: The fund supports work on environmental and climate challenges that pose risks to global development, and it lists nonprofits, think tanks, civil society groups, and individual researchers as eligible. The listed process is an enquiry email to the funder's contact page. Foundation-wide, DT Institute made 19 grants totaling $1.7 million in 2025, with a median of $70,000.

Realistic fit: established organizations with a defined climate-and-development project, ready to explain scope and implementation in a first email.

The two are different kinds of work. Temper wants a tight five-page campaign plan by December; DT Institute starts with a conversation, so a clear one-paragraph project summary is the right first step.
