What we know: The foundation funds uniforms, equipment, and storage for middle school after-school athletic programs. Eligibility is narrow: grades 6 through 8, programs meeting 3:00 to 5:30 p.m., districts where 60% or more of students qualify for free or reduced lunch, and only programs that have never received prior foundation funding.

Realistic fit: Under-resourced middle schools with after-school sports programs that need gear, not general youth athletics organizations.

The Watt Foundation's eligibility checklist is unusually specific. Before starting the application, confirm your district's free/reduced lunch percentage and verify your program hasn't previously received their funding. For the LGC, the application opened in October for the current cycle, so Arizona literacy orgs have roughly three months to prepare.
