Who can apply

Must be a burial site of a Medal of Honor recipient with sufficient historical evidence. The gravesite must be ineligible for VA-funded marker support under VA guidelines at the time of application. The cemetery or burial-location owner must approve the marker, and the family or next-of-kin must not object. The program will not be used if VA funding is available, if the family or burial location owner objects, if the recipient is already suitably memorialized elsewhere, or for movement of remains/disinterment.
