Charis gives lower priority to operating/general support and does not fund arts, colleges/universities, individuals, political/lobbying organizations.
Who can apply: Organizations with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status and certain governmental entities. Fiscal sponsorship permitted (written fiscal sponsorship agreement required for Full Application). Arts funding prioritizes small- and mid-size arts organizations (annual budgets $1.5M or less). Priority given to projects benefiting Greater Pittsburgh (minimum 75% of yearly awards).
Who can apply: Organizations must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and align with one or more priorities. Required documents include a recent financial audit (within 2 years), 501(c)(3) letter, W-9, and Supplier Form.

Who can apply: Programs and projects should serve communities most in need and historically underserved communities, align with one of the Foundation's giving pillars, have measurable outcomes and strong funding accountability, align with NV Energy's business purpose, and strengthen relationships with 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations. Employee volunteer involvement, collaboration opportunities, and higher visibility for the Foundation are preferred.
Who can apply: Qualifying 501(c)(3) organizations. The Trust does not accept proposals from individuals or for-profit organizations. Preference is given to proposals for new or enhanced programs, one-time short-term bridge support, matching grants, and last dollars toward a capital campaign. Priority is given to proposals with an educational focus.
