Who can apply: Applicants must be owners or authorized holders of officially protected cultural monuments in Germany, including private individuals, nonprofit institutions, religious communities, municipalities or counties; in special cases, experts for individual services. A formal written application is required, usually after an initial phone consultation. The monument must be endangered without special assistance, and required monument/proof of legal approvals must be in place. Commercial advertising at the monument excludes funding.
Deadline: Applications for the following year are due by August 31 each year. Decisions are made in the first quarter of the following year. Disaster-damaged monuments can apply year-round.
