Who can apply: Schools, playgroups, early childhood education services, youth groups, charities, and community-based formally constituted not-for-profit groups supporting people under 25 who live in the specified Saffron Walden area. Preference is given to smaller organisations with limited income streams. Non-registered community groups must demonstrate public benefit, have governing rules and at least three unrelated trustees or committee members, their own bank account with two unrelated signatories, at least three months of financial records, relevant equality and safeguarding policies, and protection against private benefit. Funding must supplement rather than replace normal state education finance.

The fund does not usually support state-provided services, summer camps, scholarships, expeditions, volunteering trips, conferences, international travel, or projects where uniforms, transport, or running costs are the main expense.
For the January 2027 Grants Committee: applications open 14 September 2026 and Stage 1 closes 5 October 2026. Further cycles: applications open 1 March 2027 with a 23 March 2027 deadline, and open 31 May 2027 with a 21 June 2027 deadline.
