Earthwatch Research Funding (General RFP process)

Who can apply: Projects must produce rigorous, relevant, and impactful science; address global change; actively involve citizen-scientist participants; comply with Earthwatch safety requirements and not be located in regions on the Earthwatch No Go List. Funding is supplemental to other sources. Projects with long-duration teams are eligible; projects are typically three-year in duration subject to annual review.

Deadline: Earthwatch is shifting to a rolling request for proposals (RFPs) process effective April 2026 for projects to begin in 2028. Prior RFPs (e.g., 2025 RFPs) are published as PDFs; see specific RFP listings for date details.
