About this program

Grants provide scientific teams with the use of Daniels Family Sustainable Energy Foundation research vessels and crew at no cost for trans-oceanic and coastal climate and ocean research expeditions. Applicants remain responsible for operational costs; in rare cases the foundation may consider additional funding for exceptional, well-funded international collaborations with strong communications strategies.

Who can apply

Scientific fieldwork requiring use of foundation vessels; projects should have a clear, well-defined scientific question. Priority given to proposals producing new scientific information and aligning with listed focus areas. Applicants must cover operational costs; exceptional proposals with well-funded international collaborations and strong communications strategies may be considered for additional funding.
