This is not a grant
Hacks Hackers provides donated goods or services here, not funding. Nonprofits receive items or support directly rather than money, so there is no award to spend. If you're looking for cash funding, this program won't provide it.
About this program
A three-month technical partnership program that helps small and mid-sized news organizations scope, evaluate, and manage AI-related newsroom projects. Participating newsrooms receive hands-on technical advising, structured curriculum, prototypes, playbooks, and implementation support. The program is supported by the Patrick J. McGovern Foundation and is designed for newsrooms, not general grant applicants.
Who can apply
Small and mid-sized news organizations interested in scoping, evaluating, and implementing AI-related projects. The page indicates the lab works with newsrooms that have real editorial problems and are ready for a technical partnership.
