Equipment grants for children and specialist organisations
A resource program from Handicapped Children's Aid Committee
This is not a grant
Handicapped Children's Aid Committee provides donated goods or services here, not funding. Nonprofits receive items or support directly rather than money, so there is no award to spend. If you're looking for cash funding, this program won't provide it.
About this program
Lifeline 4 Kids (originally Handicapped Children's Aid Committee) provides funding to purchase specialised equipment to improve quality of life for disabled and special needs children. Funding is provided directly as in-kind purchases (the charity buys and arranges delivery of approved items) rather than cash grants. Applicants can be individual children (aged birth to 18) and eligible organisations such as schools, children’s hospices, respite care homes, support centres and hospitals throughout the UK. The charity will consider emergency/welfare appeals for rapid assistance within authorised limits.
Who can apply
Applicants must be requesting equipment (no cash grants). Individual applicants: provide child's full name, DOB, health condition, family contact details and specify item and cost; school/organisation applicants: provide organisation name, address, contact, requirements, approximate cost and number/age group of children who will benefit. Age limit for individual children: birth to 18 years. iPad requests for individuals are normally considered only for children over five and must meet strict conditions (school recommendation showing iPad is child's sole communication means or approved educational apps; exclusive use by child; application in conjunction with school; school agrees to purchase via approved supplier and accept reimbursement; appropriate apps in use at school; child able to use safely without adult supervision; robust case may be funded). Many categories explicitly excluded (therapy/treatment costs, building/home works, most household items, vehicles, cash grants, etc.).
